What do you do for a living?

I’m a full-time Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) for a private investment firm headquartered in Evansville, Indiana (Donaldson Capital Management). I do most of my work from home in Indianapolis; although, I do travel around the Midwest within a couple of hours.

How did Dividend Growth Machine get started?

In 2014, I was explaining the dividend investing strategy to my father-in-law. He was struggling to understand the concept of dividend growth and how it is independent from stock prices.

I’ve always been better at writing than speaking, so I thought writing it all down would be more helpful to him than explaining it. So I ended up writing a book and decided to publish it on Amazon. At first, nothing much happened. Then the book started selling and getting reviews and spreading online. Today, it’s one of the best-selling dividend investing books on Amazon.

What is the vision for this community?

Over the course of this journey, I’ve realized that we are all designed for connection. I’ve connected with so many of you through my book and now through YouTube. Several of you have commented on YouTube that you want more of a community. One of you (I won’t mention you unless you’d like me to :) suggested Substack.

So, here we are. I honestly don’t have much of a vision for this Substack. It’s an open canvas that I hope you will help me shape. After all, you are the reason why I am here. So…
